Public education and archival pedagogy / Public and archival education

The NAH Veszprém County Archives would like to share the historical documents preserved in the institution with the widest possible range of interested parties in the field of education and public culture, with professionalism and openness. This way, we would also like to bring the archives, our work, historical sources, research into history, and personal exploration into the public realm.

We are actively involved in the field of public culture, enriching the cultural life of Veszprém and the county with our various archival events and publications: Archives Day, Jutas Sergeant Tour, Trianon Day, Book Reviews, Exhibitions, Conferences, Quizzes, and participation in the national series of Cultural Heritage Days.

The archival education sessions are held in the archives' well-equipped classroom, where modern interactive visual aids, smartboards and computers support our teaching. In addition to the archival lessons, we also try to reach young people with local quizzes and, in cooperation with the army, we actively participate in the annual Jutas Sergeant's Tour, which is organised to preserve the archives' military past.

Our involvement in school community service is very important to us. We have cooperation agreements with several schools. We offer young people in secondary schools the opportunity to do community work in our archives in June, after the end of the academic year.

We offer hands-on archives sessions for all ages, from primary school children to senior citizens. Visitor groups are welcome during the opening hours of the archives (8.00-15.00, Monday to Friday).
