2. Visit our main building: Guided tours and exhibition

Dear visitors!

We are waiting you in the building of the National Archives of Hungary on the Bécsi kapu square. The historicist archival palace  was built according to the plans of Samu Pecz, which contains many wonders and interesting small details. The ornated column capitals, coat of armses of noble families and murals by the renowned artist of the age, Andor Dudits, bring to life different periods of the Hungarian history. You can admire the stained glass windows of Miksa Róth or the works of Laura Kőrösfői-Kriesch, who weaved the space separator carpets that survived the Second World War.

In our exhibition hall we are presenting temporary exhibitions, based on our written heritage.

The building of the National Archives of Hungary can be visited by prior appointment and requires the purchase of a ticket on site.
As part of the visit, in addition to the guided tour, you can view our exhibition entitled 1945 – In the Crossfire.

The guided tour of the building lasts 45-60 minutes.
