The series of records reveals the consecutive phases of the case of a father and son featuring among others the temporary exemption document issued by the Ministry of the Interior on 31 July, 1944 and also the letter of the prefect of Sopron County dated 10 October, 1944 sent to the Ministry of the Interior in which he expressed his strong objection to the issue of exemption documents

a.) Request of the Spanish Embassy in Budapest
Official translation of the letter of the Spanish Embassy in Budapest in which an exemption was required for Béla Dán and his wife from wearing the yellow star with regards to the fact that it would have impeded their work of taking care of the household of Agustin Moragrega, chancellor of the Spanish Embassy in Budapest. The Embassy highlighted the fact the married couple’s two sons were Roman Catholic priest and monk respectively. There are not any documents pertaining to the outcome of the case.

b.) Request of Samu Winkler for exemption from the obligation of wearing the yellow star
Samu Winkler, a habitant of Szombathely filed a request with the Board of the Order of the Vitéz to obtain a certification to be used for the exemption request. He attached the necessary documents and gave a detailed account on the military service of him and his brother who died as a hero in the World War I. He highlighted the fact that he stepped up as a patriotic civilian during the regime of 1919 Hungarian Republic of Councils. Although the request was transmitted to higher authorities the subprefect of Vas County settled the case on 23 May, 1944 putting down - which is underlined in the document - that there was not any reason for granting exemption for the applicant

c.) Excerpt from the memoirs of Dr. György Márai concerning the rescue activities in Békés County
In his memoirs Dr. György Márai gave the names of the rescuers: public judicial official, Dr. Ambróczy and his associates, dr. Dénes Marik, Countess Almássy, László Blanár, Károly Hraskó. The manuscript does not reveal any other data on the helpers and we are unable to complete the information of the manuscript even by using archival resources.
Dr-. György Márai (Békés, 1908 – Gyula, 1991), public judicial official, judge. He did a lot to promote the cultual life of Békés County. He has done an outstanding work in the Erkel Ferenc Association for which he earned the honorary degree of the organisation of which he remained the lifelong honorary chairman. He was the co-author of the remarkable book titled The Chronicle of the Erkel Family.

In her letter of Ilona Schwartz, who had resided in the ghetto at the time, asked for aliment from her romantic partner, Lajos Józsa. The attempt was revealed which led a procedure initiated against them involving Sándor Gáspár who transmitted the letter. Having his interrogation completed Lajos Józsa was released. As he arrived home he committed suicide

The minutes reveal the fact that Dr. László Dobszay rescued children avoiding their transfer to the ghetto. Aladár and János Schwarcz and also Jenő Fried escaped this way owing to the courage of their rescuer

Certifying statement of Andor Léderer, chief official of the International Red Cross on the rescue activities and political demenaour of former chief constable, Dr. Gyula Szarka. Dr. Gyula Szarka rescued Andor Léderer from the military labour service and took cognizance of the fact that Andor Léderer hid his Jewish companions on his estate

b.) A record pertaining to the hiding of the wife of Austrian politician, Viktor Mittermann in Hungary
Certifying statement of landholder, Sándor Jurenák pertaining to Dr. Gyula Szarka, chief constable who had participated in the rescue of the widow of Austrian politician, Viktor Mittermann killed in Dachau. Stefanie Mittermann, a former businesswoman from Vienna, the widow of the Christian Socialist politician, a former deputy chairman of the parliament of Lower Austria lived in hiding in Hungary between 1942 and 1945 using an assumed name. She revealed her identity to Sándor Jurenák and Gyula Szarka in 1944 without disclosing her Jewish origin.

b.) Testimony of a former physician on a medical captain
The testimony is given by Dr. László Gabányi MD, one of the Jewish doctors placed into internment in the Péterfia street barrack of Debrecen relating to Dr. László Tőkés MD, a former fireman and ambulance service physician and a medical captain of the Red Cross War Hospital nr. 101. The document was made out in the course of the certification process enabling Dr. László Tőkés to be re-established into city public service proving his political reliability

Referring to important public interest in the preface of the 1945 decree nr 15 M.E. of the Interim National Government a certification procedure was ordered applying to all public servants. In the course of the procedure the demeanour of the employees was examined (as of 1 September, 1939 onwards) to reveal whether it violated the nation's interests. The main aim of the certfication procedures launched at the beginning of 1945 was to assure the creation of a set of public servants promoting the new political regime.

g.) Letter of Bishop Vilmos Apor to Vilmos Nagy de Nagybaczon
Vilmos Nagy de Nagybaczon (1884–1976) commanding general of the Royal Hungarian Army, minister of defence, military writer. Within the army he inhibited the aggravation of antisemitism and the inhuman treatment of Jews fulfilling military labour service. He served as minister of defence between September 1942 and June 1943 in the Kállay Government. The 1944 October Arrow Cross putsch led to his arrest. He was released in April 1945. Similarly to many others, after 1948 he was subjected to unmerited attacks, his flat was taken away, his pension was withdrawn. In 1965 he was honoured as Righteous Among the Nations by the Jad Vasem Institute in Jerusalem as one of the first Hungarians.

b.) Prosecution against village justice of Mőcsény for hiding Jewish assets
Curiously, the prosecution was initiated by the Popular Association of Germans of Hungary (Volksbund) demanding the dismissal and internment of the village justice. He was fined and stepped down already during the procedure.
